Even though it is still very cold with ferocious winds today, March 19, tomorrow is the first day of Spring and it is supposed to be warming up. Nothing in the garden but a few snowdrops and the first snow crocus with plenty of snow and ice still on the ground. But indoors this striking Clivia helps cheers us through the cold days as we look for daffodils and other spring surprises to begin to finally appear.
Meanwhile, I am beginning to prepare for my very first Zoom book talk, a bit terrified of speaking to my computer with no audience to hear respond or even laugh. My last book talk was before the world shut down with a live audience in Palm Beach for the Preservation Foundation in February of 2020, so I am rusty but excited to be giving a new talk about my book, Heroes of Horticulture via Zoom on April 14, 2021 at 9:30 AM for two wonderful organizations, the New Canaan Garden Club and the New Canaan Beautification League. When I first said I didn’t think I was up to this, Nancy Bemis from the New Canaan Garden Club proved to be an irresistible salesperson. She, together with Patricia Spugani from the New Canaan Beautification League, kindly gave me a dress rehearsal so I am hoping I live up to their expectations.
