Blithewold Visit

On a beautiful summer day, sunny but not too hot or humid, a group arrived organized by Blithewold, the impressive historic mansion, garden and arboretum located in Bristol, Rhode Island.  The youngest visitor was two year old Jack, shown here with his parents, Dan and Julie Christina.  Julie is the Education Programs Manager at Blithewold and had been a gracious host to me when I spoke about my book there quite awhile ago.   Dan is himself a professional horticulturist at Green Animals Topiary Garden.  Young Jack was particularly enthusiastic about my puppy, Leah, a one year old Golden Retriever, although he thought she was a little large.  He was even more delighted to have a ride in my golf cart where he repeatedly directed me to blow the horn!   The other visitors were happy to spread out and explore the garden and then to recover in the shade of the terrace with a little iced tea.  Earlier they had been to Hollister House just down the road, so a very full day before the over three hour drive back to Rhode Island.  It was a great pleasure having them visit.  IMG_7743IMG_7744
