Recent Book Talks in January, 2013

Despite the cold weather, a wonderful audience turned up at The Massachusetts Horticultural Society in Wellesley, MA on Thursday, January 31.  I am pictured with Katherine K. Macdonald, the President and Executive Director just before the talk began.  Maureen Horn, the Librarian was wonderful in organizing the event that began at 1:30 just as the sun broke out.  And best of all, my publisher, David R. Godine came with his wife, Sarah and colleague Sue Ramin who has been such a stalwart in helping to promote the book but who is not pictured here.  David even brought his adorable puppy along who was very well behaved.

Earlier that week,  on Monday, January 28, I spoke in New York City for the McNargs ( or The Manhattan Chapter of the North American Rock Garden Society).  The event was held in the Library of the New York Horticultural Society.  I am shown in the picture below with my husband and book carrier, Charlie, and the officers who organized the event that wonderful evening and then later hosted us for a delicious dinner in a nearby Indian restaurant.

The week before, on Tuesday, January 22, a large crowd turned out for my talk for The Fairfield Garden Club despite the frigid weather.  I was sure no one would even want to get out of bad for that early morning talk because it was so cold but the members of the Fairfield Garden Club were undaunted by the weather.    Laura Meyer orchestrated the event and then hosted a delightful lunch for some of the officers of the Club and me in her elegant home in nearby Southport, Connecticut.
